Areas of Tibet have near perfect air quality, new research has found, Xinhua reported the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) as saying that the air in the region around Nam Co Lake was found to have a reading of 0.029 - comparable to that of Antarctica. The lower the reading, the cleaner the air, with a ‘zero’ rating meaning there are no dust particles in the air. Nam Co, with an elevation of 4,718 metres, is regarded as a sacred lake in Tibetan Buddhism. It is located 112km from Lhasa and Kang Shichang, a CAS research fellow stationed at Nam Co, said the region there is little human activity that could affect the air quality.
