Automatic immigration at Taiwan airports
Published on Aug 14, 2012
Taiwan is planning to roll-out a new automated immigration system at its three international airports. The new system, called e-Gate, will be available to foreign nationals residing in Taiwan. The China News Agency reported the country's National Immigration Agency (NIA) as saying that e-Gate will scan the passenger's passport and face in just 11 seconds, speeding up the immigration process. The e-Gates will be installed at Taipei's Taoyuan and Songshan airports, Kaohsiung airport, and at Shuitou Harbor on Kinmen Island.
