Jakarta named as world Twitter capital

Jakarta is the world most active city on Twitter, according to new research. A study by France-based Semiocast found that Twitter users in the Indonesian capital are "the most active within all cities, ranked by number of total tweets". Tokyo was second, followed by London, Sao Paulo and New York. The US still has by far the largest Twitter user base, with 141.8 million accounts, or 27% of the Twitter population.
