The New Zealand winter sports hub of Queenstown received a boost this week when a cold front dumped snow on the area's ski slopes. Queenstown’s closest ski area, Coronet Peak reported approximately 30cm of snow on Monday night, while Cardrona Alpine Resort received 25cm. Snow fl urries continued on Tuesday. The snow made a timely appearance for Queenstown’s annual Winter Festival - the traditional 10-day event which marks the onset of winter. “Mother Nature has defi nitely come to the party!” said Destination Queenstown's CEO, Graham Budd.
