Typhoon grounds Japan flights
Japan was hit by a typhoon yesterday, leading to severe flight disruptions. Heavy rain and strong winds cut a path across the centre of Honshu Island overnight, leading to the cancellation of more than 450 flights, affecting an estimated 35,000 passengers. Kyodo News also reported that bullet trains were disrupted, while the recently-opened Tokyo Skytree suspended elevator services to its observation decks.
