The first expressway linking southwest China's Yunnan province with Vietnam will open to traffic next year, local authorities confirmed on Sunday. Xinhua reported that the 600km highway will connect Yunnan's capital Kunming with Hanoi, including a 250km stretch in Vietnam. The announcement follows reports in Vietnam that plans are being drawn up for a new highway connecting the popular tourist destination of Halong Bay with Mong Cai, on the border with China's Guangxi Autonomous Region.
