Chinese tourism investment exceeds US$30bn

Investment in China's tourism industry hit CNY206 billion (US$32.6 billion) last year, according to data from the country's National Tourism Administration (NTA). According to an NTA statement, reported by state media, private investment accounted for 39% of the total, while 38% came from the government and stateowned enterprises, and 23% from bank loans. Scenic areas, resort areas and the renovation of tourist
cities took 66% of the investment, while restaurants and hotels
accounted for 18%.
