Singapore hotels stop shark fin sales

Singapore hotels Swissôtel The Stamford and Fairmont Singapore have stopped serving shark fins at their restaurants.

Swissôtel The Stamford has now ceased all shark fin sales in its four private dining rooms, meaning that the two hotels’ combined 16 restaurants have now totally eliminated shark’s fin from their menus.

Sales of other endangered marine species such as Chilean sea bass and bluefin tuna have also stopped.

“At the Swissôtel The Stamford, we believe our venues play a pivotal role in maintaining a sustainability conscious food community given its long standing history as an established dining destination,” said Aiden McAuley, Managing Director of Fairmont Singapore & Swissôtel The Stamford.
