Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) is pressing the Transport Ministry to allow international flights to Bangkok’s Don Muang Airport, which is soon to reopen in March. The state-controlled airport operator has asked lawmakers to change a policy which only permits domestic passenger services to operate out of the Thai capital’s second airport. AoT is eager to have more airlines operating through Don Mueang to relieve congested at Suvaranabhumi Airport, which is already over capacity, insiders told the Bangkok Post. If policy is adjusted, AoT is expected to off er a package of incentives, including reduced parking and landing fees and low space rental charges, to attract airlines to Don Muang.
