Cambodia to honor skyscraper builders

Published on Feb 14, 2012

Cambodia’s Prime Minister has said he will press ahead with skyscraper development in the country. Hun Sen was reported telling government officials as saying that high-rise development would continue in the capital Phnom Penh, and that he would reward the company that constructs the tallest building. “I declare that I will grant a medal to the builder of the highest skyscraper,” the Phnom Penh Postreported the PM as saying. He added that any area of Phnom Penh would be considered for high-rise development, except land around the airport. Cambodia is currently developing a 555-metre skyscraper, which by today’s standards would be the tallest building in Southeast Asia, ahead of Kuala Lumpur’s 452m Petronas Towers.
