AirAsia builds on strong demand growth through 2011
Published on Feb 1, 2012
AirAsia witnessed a significant rise in passenger demand through 2011, recording a 16.3% growth in total passengers carried through the 12-month period. The group carried a total of 25,859,949 people compared to 25,680,609 in 2010. The growth in demand, seen in an 18% increase in Revenue Passenger Kilometres (RPK), was closely matched by a 13.5% increase in capacity (Available Passengers Kilometres). Consequently, the group wide load factor increased two percentage points to 80%. This improvement comes despite a minor slip in performance during the fourth quarter which saw load factors drop one percentage point year on year to 80%.
