China adds 159 more trains

China put an extra 159 trains into service on Tuesday to cope with surging travel demand over the Spring Festival holiday period. Xinhua reported China’s Ministry of Railways as saying yesterday that the country’s trains had carried a total of 85.7 million passengers from 8-23 January - up 10.8% year-on-year. By the time the festive season fi nishes on 16 February, China’s railways are expected to cater for 235 million journeys - up 6.1% year-on-year.
