Australia suffers third shark attack of 2012

Published on Jan 20, 2012

A snorkeller has been attacked by a shark off the coast of Western Australia, in what is believed to be the country’s third shark attack this year. The AP reported that a 26 year-old tour guide was attacked by a tiger shark while leading a group approximately 100 metres off shore. Thursday’s attack followed two others off Australia’s east coast. On Wednesday a surfer was attacked by a bull shark near Newcastle, approximately 125km north of Sydney, while on 3 January a shark attacked a man at North Avoca, 90km north of Sydney. None of the attacks were fatal.
