Chinese clamour for Aussie Open tickets

Chinese tennis sensation Li Na has sparked a clamour for Australian Open tickets in China. Ticket sales in the country surged 30% this year after the Chinese athlete reached the final of the Australian Open and won the French Open title last year. This is good news for Australia’s travel and tourism industry, according to Tourism & Transport Forum head, John Lee. Having received 500,000 Chinese visitors last year, Lee expects the ‘Li factor’ to help double this arrivals fi gure in the next fi ve years. “She’s made a successful start to 2012, and if that continues Li could be more valuable to Australian tourism than Oprah,” said Lee.
