Malaysia welcomes first flight connection to Russia

Malaysia’s travel industry ended 2011 on a high note, welcoming the Transaero Airline’s maiden flight to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and the country’s fi rst direct commercial flight to Russia. Transaero operates one weekly fl ight every Saturday from Moscow to Kuala Lumpur using a Boeing 763 aircraft with a 255-seat confi guration. According to the Borneo Post, Russia’s second biggest carrier has been operating charter fl ights to KLIA for the last few years and has created suffi cient market demand on this route for the airline to start scheduled operations.
