The Maldives government last week issued an order calling on all resorts in the country to close their spas, but Six Senses will not comply unless told to do so by the courts.
The ministerial order came in response to allegations by an Islamic opposition party that some spas in the country are connected with prostitution, and rallied protestors in Male to call for government action. The Ministry of Tourism responded with a call for all spas in the country to close immediately pending investigation. However, the legality of such demand has been questioned by many operators.
