Asians to spend more on travel in 2012 – survey

A new survey has revealed that people in Asia Pacific are upbeat about their travel prospects in 2012.
According to research by Travelzoo Asia Pacific, at least 65% of people in all studied Asia Pacific markets expect to spend more on travel in 2012 than they did in 2011. Australians plan to spend the most per person per leisure trip, at an average of US$2,456. With an expected average spend of US$1,415 per person, mainland Chinese respondents are expected to outspend those from Hong Kong (US$969) and Taiwan (US$785), but not those from Japan, who plan to spend an average of US$1,431 per person per trip. Hong Kong subscribers plan to travel most frequently however, at an average of five leisure trips per year.
