TAT cleans up Ayutthaya

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has held the ‘Ayutthaya Cleaning Day’ event as part of its efforts to restore areas hit by the recent floods.
Part of the broader ‘Beautiful Thailand’ campaign, the clean-up operation at the UNESCO-listed former Thai capital took place on 4 December 2011. Thousands of volunteers visited Ayutthaya to help with the operation, with the TAT reporting strong support from both the public and private sectors of Thailand’s tourism industry.
The ‘Ayutthaya Cleaning Day’ was also designed to show potential visitors that the temple-strewn city is now open for business. In 2010, Ayutthaya welcomed 2.3 million visitors.
