A two-year-old boy was attacked by a sniffer dog at an airport in the Philippines last week. The victim, Elijah Lingaolingao, suffered injuries in the head, face and mouth when he was attacked at Naia Centennial Terminal 2. Police are now investigating the incident, which could fi nd Philippine Airlines (PAL) liable as it was responsible for hiring the K9-unit. The attack happened at a boarding gate which has raised many questions because dogs are only supposed to be present and baggage inspection points, suggesting negligence by the handler and possibly the employer, in this case PAL. The boy’s mother told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that the handler was taking a nap on one of the seats and the dog was not securely leashed when the attack happened. PAL said it has apologized to the victim’s parents and that it had immediately rushed the boy for treatment at the Cardinal Santos Memorial Hospital.
