Vietnam builds huge Ho Chi Minh statue

Published on Oct 4, 2011

Vietnam has started work on the largest statue of revolutionary leader, Ho Chi Minh. The Vietnam News Agency reported that the 10.8-metre-high bronze statue will be located at Pleiku, in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai. It also includes a 5.4-metre stone platform, and a 60-metre-long, 12-metre-high stone relief. “President Ho Chi Minh never visited the Central Highlands but his love for… the region was great. The monument is the love of people in the Central Highlands to Uncle Ho,” said Phan Xuan Vu, Director of Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports & Tourism. The work is scheduled to be completed by May 2012 to celebrate the 122nd anniversary of Ho Chi Minh’s birth.
