Manila hit by flooding

Transport systems ground to a halt and work was suspended when fl ooding hit Manila yesterday. Heavy rains lashed the capital city as Typhoon Kabayan enhanced monsoon conditions across the island of Luzon. The city’s Metro system was submerged in places, leaving commuters stranded in the España, Blumentritt ,Taft Avenue and Avenida areas of the city. CNN reports that 30% of Manila is aff ected and hundreds of families are seeking assistance at evacuation centers. The government suspended work as a result and have been laying out relief stations across the country to prepare for more bad weather.
