One of Bangkok’s Most Iconic Rooftop Bars Just Got a Massive Makeover

[SPONSORED CONTENT] The newly revamped Moon Bar at the Banyan Tree Bangkok is as spectacular as the view.

As anyone who has ever visited the Thai capital can tell you, Bangkok at ground level isn’t exactly what you would call a stress-free city. Street vendors ladle out noodles; motorcycle drivers weave through congested traffic; and pedestrians scurry from old shophouses to glitzy malls housed on the same block. Much of the city’s charisma rests in the vibrant, barely contained chaos of everyday life.

Yet something magic happens when you get above it all—from high in the air, all the bustle melts away and a cool breeze casts aside the tropical heat. It’s for this reason that the most romantic spaces in Bangkok tend to be perched on rooftops. While dozens of such restaurants and bars have cropped up over the years, none have ever quite equaled the ambiance or enviable vantage point of Vertigo Restaurant and Moon Bar atop the 61st story of the Banyan Tree Bangkok

Since it opened, Moon Bar has been the site of countless marriage proposals, anniversary dinners and other special occasions. The sheer breathtaking beauty of that vista coupled with superlative service has made it a favored spot of visitors and locals alike.

Over the years, however, the city’s tastes changed as both the local mixology and restaurant scenes grew ever more cosmopolitan. Unlike when Moon Bar first appeared on the scene, the Bangkok of today is one of the most dynamic places for fine drinking and dining in all of Asia. In order to stay ahead of the changing times, Moon Bar has undergone an ambitious top-to-toe renovation. Like the Instagrammable “Moon Walk” glass bridge vista point, where jaw-dropping views are uninterrupted. The bar is just as classy and impressive as ever.
