With its longstanding reputation for high style and top-of-the-line amenities, Singapore Airlines remains one of the most luxe ways to traverse the skies. Even passengers in Economy Class enjoy first-class treatment, with a wide variety of entertainment options, plush seats, and, of course, the world-class service for which the airline is renowned. Meanwhile, for those in First Class, flying is pure pleasure, with plenty of bubbles, gourmet dining options to please every palate, and seats that expand into comfy beds to make sure you arrive fresh and rested at your final destination.

The carrier has always prided itself in offering a superior experience, which is why it announced in 2016 that it would add 67 Airbus A350-900 planes to its already impressive fleet. These 253-seat aircraft sport all the latest technological upgrades to ensure a smooth ride. Composed of more than 50 percent carbon fiber, the A350’s ultra-light frame is light, fast, and eco-friendly. Its sleek wings are more than just aesthetically appealing; these sophisticated additions intelligently adapt to air resistance throughout the flight, saving fuel and allowing the planes to seamlessly navigate the skies. Although the A350 purrs at a fraction of the volume of many other aircraft, its custom-built twin-engines boast 68 times the power of a Formula One racecar.

Aside from comfort, these new aircraft will allow the airline to offer more long-haul, nonstop flights from Asia to destinations including Amsterdam and Düsseldorf. As of right now, passengers can fly from the Lion City to Cape Town, Stockholm, Manchester, Tokyo, San Francisco, and other prime locales. In 2018, the airline plans to revive some of the longest routes in the world, with nonstop service between Singapore and New York City, as well as Los Angeles and a third destination in the United States. It’s a welcome return to the more glamorous Golden Age of travel, when boarding a plane was an occasion worth dressing up for and celebrating. The A350 may whisk you to where you want to go faster, but with this many perks, you may find yourself wishing the journey lasted just a little longer.
