The Overview

It may be hard to live up to a Thai name that translates roughly to "supreme pleasure," but this spot with just 14 century-old stilted teak houses does its very best. Each of these historic dwellings was rescued from dereliction, handsomely restored, and filled with objets d'art and bespoke furnishings. The owners, who have been friends since their childhood in Bangkok, have eclectic tastes and some of the accents range from French settees to gold enamel pieces from the Ayutthaya period. Though there are plenty of dining options in town, be sure to stay for dinner at least once.
