The Overview

Jim Thompson House is the home of James H.W. Thompson, a self-made American entrepreneur who was the founder of the world renowned Jim Thompson Thai Silk Company. Thompson's achievements during his 25 year stay in the Kingdom of Thailand have won him much fame as the "Legendary American of Thailand". (Adding to his legend is that he disappeared in the Cameron Highlands of Malaysia in 1967 and his body has never been found.) The company he established saved a dying craft and transformed it into a world-class designer brand. Today, there are outlets for Jim Thompson fabrics all over the world, in addition to malls and hotels in Bangkok, a Jim Thompson Farm in the Northeast of Thailand, and Jim Thompson Restaurants in Thailand and Singapore.
