Vientiane Kitchen

Since its opening 13 years ago, Vientiane Kitchen has been serving up delectable Thai–Lao cuisine derived from original Isaan recipes (read: hot and spicy).

The Overview

Chefs do not tone down the spiciness to accommodate foreign tastes unless specifically asked for. If you have low tolerance for spicy food, fret not as there are many appetizing alternatives such as grilled chicken, grilled salted fish and the ubiquitous sticky rice. In addition, Vientiane Kitchen features hundreds of Isaan classics, including more than 33 different kinds of somtam (spicy papaya salad). For more adventurous palates, exotic dishes such as ant's egg and mushroom soup as well as deep fried duck beak are not to be missed. If you wish to enjoy the Isaan-style ambience to the fullest: sit on mats on the floor and eat from low tables, just like locals do. They also have a special Lao dance and music show nightly. The restaurant is near the Thong Lor BTS Station.
