The Overview

Vietnamese fare enjoys a hearty following in Thailand. One reason for that is the two cuisines enjoy some similarities in terms of fresh ingredients like lime, basil leaves, ginger and lemon grass, and they both partake of a full spectrum of flavors from the sour to the sweet and the piquant to the plain.

A promising newcomer in Bangkok is Zoulviet, which distinguishes itself from the pack with its tagline, "Vietnamese Casual Dining." That claim is bolstered by the warm and homey setting.

Many of the cuisine's staples are on offer, such as sour salads, fried pancakes and Vietnamese rolls. One section is devoted to noodles. Naturally there's the legendarily tasty pho noodle soup or you can order from the a la carte menu, starring "Barbecued Pork Ribs with Deep Fried Sticky Rice," "Steamed Fish with Ginger" and "Vietnamese Rib Eye Steak with Fried Eggs."

Getting the bill is not going to raise your blood pressure either, as all the prices are in the mid-range.
