The Overview

Lao food is no slouch in the culinary stakes, as you’ll discover at Makphet, a restaurant operated by Peuan Mit, a Friends-International program in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. Here, former street kids cook and serve up tasty modern Lao dishes such as daikon and carrot wrapped in tender buffalo meat, and pork, ginger and lemongrass salad with a tamarind dressing.
