Amantaka - the latest offering from resort guru Adrian Zecha and his team - is located in a leafy compound of 32 French colonial buildings once occupied by the provincial hospital.

Expect the usual Aman touches in the property’s 24 suites: refined décor that alludes to the town’s heritage, lofty spaces, and well-stocked bathrooms and private bars. The two largest suites - which each sprawl over 120 square meters - have their own private verandahs, pools and spa treatment rooms. If exploring the environs and temples doesn’t provide enough amusement, the resort also boasts a yoga studio, tennis courts, a library and an art gallery.
