The Spa at La Résidence Phou Vao

Once forgotten amongst its larger neighbors, Laos is gradually opening up and allows visitors a unique chance to experience its scenic beauty, laidback lifestyle and colonial-era history. Here, one can savor the royal charm of Luang Prabang, marvel at the beautiful French boulevards of Vientiane and take a relaxed cruise down the gorgeous Mekong while watching the evening sunset.

GREAT FOR: Temples, Culture, Colonial architecture

WHEN TO GO: The best time to visit is between November and February when the rains are less and it isn’t too hot. Roads can be washed out during the rainy season (July to October), but there's plenty of river travel. Peak tourist months are December to February and during August, even though one may find few visitors at any given time.

Delightfully perched on the banks of the majestic Mekong, Vientiane’s blooming streets, riverside promenade and backwater attractions make it a charming attraction for visitors...
