Siem Reap

Still a small charming town with old French shophouses, shady boulevards and a glacially flowing river at its heart, Siem Reap, the gateway into the famed Angkor Wat, is expanding at a runaway pace and is fast becoming the hip capital of Cambodia. With a dizzying number of restaurants, bars, hotels and resorts, this once sleepy backwater town rivals Phnom Penh in terms of popularity and visitors.

Hotels

Cambodia’s biggest boomtown and tourist Mecca, Siem Reap provides all sorts of accommodation, ranging from towering luxury hotels to stylish boutique resorts and the usual backpacker guesthouses.

Food & Drink

With no dearth of restaurants, cafés and bars, this gateway to the Angkor Wat is a foodie’s paradise. Italian-style pizzas, Mexican tacos, Western hamburgers, Indian naan and French-Khmer local delights among other fascinating cuisines are up for the taking.

Shopping

A major hub for Cambodian arts, ceramics, handicrafts, clothes and souvenirs, Siem Reap is bustling with art galleries, boutiques, handicraft stores and open-air markets. For a unique experience, visit gift shops and other co-operative societies where local disabled weavers and craftsmen design attractive items out of silk and cotton fabrics, rattan, bamboo, wood and clay.

Nightlife

With an ever-growing expat population, Siem Reap’s nightlife is under the grips of a major revolution as new wave of clubs, bars, lounges, and pubs dominate the party scene. Some of the big daddies here include the Buddha Lounge, Dead Fish Tower, the FCC Siem Reap and The Warehouse with its raucous atmosphere.

Spa

For a luxurious, opulent and pampering spa service, take a well-deserved look around the top-end resorts such as the Hôtel de la Paix, Le Meridien Angkor¸ Prince D'Angkor and Raffles Grand Hotel D'Angkor among others where you are lavished with the best of Khmer hospitality and massage tradition.
