Water Lily Creation

Using old beads and buttons found at flea markets, the Frenchwoman designs unique, nature-inspired necklaces, brooches, earrings and rings.
No. 37 Street 240, Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The Overview

It takes time and patience to fully appreciate the world of French transplant Christine Gauthier's shop on fashionable Street 240. Tucked into the drawers of tall wooden bureaus are her whimsical necklaces, bracelets and earrings, sorted by color; each drawer contains dozens of unusual pieces and you can idle away an afternoon by carefully sifting through them. Gauthier's designs, which range from cute and colorful to alluringly experimental, are inspired by the world around her, whether it's the candy-colored plastic buttons she finds in local markets or imported hand-blown Czech glass beads she loved as a child.
