Enjoy the treasures of the National Museum

Left to rot in the years of the Khmer Rouge, the National Museum is slowly coming back to life after years of neglect. Home to ancient Khmer art including stone sculptures, artifacts and statuary, this open-air pavilion is an interesting as well as relieving escapade from the oppressive Phnom Penh heat.

Thanks to the renovation that took place a few years back, much of the place is clean and free of bats that infested the ceilings during the Khmer Rouge period and thereafter. For your extended pleasure, check out the lovely courtyard at the center with a lush fountain garden.
